The origins of QWSTION

The brand was founded in Switzerland in 2008 by 5 friends: Sebastian Kruit, the two industrial designers Christian Kaegi and Fabrice Aeberhard and graphic designers Matthias Graf and Hannes Schoenegger.

The intention was to be able to take the QWSTION bag with you both to the office and on the bike without it being out of context in terms of design.

The makers design and develop all of their products in their in-house design studio in Zurich. Kruit and Co. make the prototypes themselves. This makes it possible to test new ideas in terms of design and function at a very early stage. This is how you ultimately create the best QWSTION bag for you!

Transparent and fair production

Designed in Zurich, produced in Europe and China. A carefully selected and independent factory near Hong Kong has been taking care of the production of QWSTION products since 2009.

The owners Mrs. Wan and Mr. Lai bring with them a competent team as well as over 30 years of experience and passion, which is reflected in your QWSTION bag. In addition, their factory is audited by BSCI (Business and Social Compliance Initiative). This EU initiative is working to ensure that European standards with regard to working conditions and ecological aspects also find their way into non-EU countries. With a QWSTION backpack you make a clear statement and support fair textile production.

Environmentally friendly materials

Did you know that a large proportion of all textiles are contaminated with pesticides that are used to grow cotton? These pesticides are extremely harmful to the environment and us humans. QWSTION avoids such toxins by developing the materials itself. Regardless of whether it is a QWSTION backpack, handbag or tote – they are all made almost entirely of natural and renewable fibers and are not contaminated with harmful substances.

The materials used include GOTS-certified organic cotton and recycled cotton , which is made water-resistant thanks to a PFC-free finish. The handles and straps of your QWSTION bag are made of rayon, nylon or cotton. Steel is used for the metal parts. All leather applications were purely vegetable tanned and naturally waxed.

In addition, QWSTION also continually develops its own sustainable and natural materials that are used in the bags and backpacks. An example here is Bananatex®, a functional, waterproof textile made from banana fibers from which some backpacks and bags are made.
